Toilet Paper Roll Boxes
If you’ve been following Destination Decoration for any amount of time, you know I’m all for money-saving crafts. Reusing and recycling crafts tend to be a good fit when I’m looking for an inexpensive craft. With all the toilet paper rolls I had been saving, I figured it was time to do something with them. I had already made a toilet paper roll wall hanging in the past, but I wanted something different. After some searching, I stumbled upon the idea for these adorable toilet paper roll boxes on Pinterest.
Materials for Toilet Paper Roll Boxes
- Toilet paper rolls
- Paper
- Ribbon
- Any other decorations you’d like to use (Ideas include: burlap, beads, fabric, paint, etc.)
- Hot glue
How to Make Toilet Paper Roll Boxes
First, fold the toilet paper tubes the long way. They won’t fold down all the way, but the ends should form a teardrop shape.
Using an X-Acto knife or an open pair of scissors, score all four ends of the roll in a semi-circle shape. (Scoring is using light pressure to make a line on the roll, but not cutting all the way through.)
After each end is scored, gently bend the ends in to form the flaps to the box. If you’d like to paint the box, I recommend doing so before it is glued together.
Hot glue the flaps, one over another to form the ends of the box.
(Put hot glue along the line drawn in black and press the ends together to set the glue.)
Now all there is left to do is decorate! I chose to decorate mine with paint, paper, and ribbon.
These are perfect for small gifts, favor boxes, or gift card holders.
