About

Destination Decoration: A place for budding and established DIY’ers to learn a little, share a little, and craft a lot.

To craft, or not to craft?

For me the answer is a resounding, “To craft!”  If you’re looking for a place to get some crafting ideas and tips, this is the place for you.  I make lots of mistakes, but there’s beauty in imperfection, dontcha think?  My hope and wish is that you can learn from my mistakes and celebrations and I can learn just as much from you.

It all started with a canvas.

Mostly true.  I have always been a creative person and did crafts throughout high school and college, but it was only after moving in with my husband that I discovered my love for all things crafty.  Spurred on by a new, bare-bones decorated apartment, the seeds of Destination Decoration were sown.  I made it my mission to make our new home a welcoming and joyful place to be.  Through making canvases, wall art, and other odds-and-ends decorations, I learned a lot about crafting, made many mistakes, and made more than a few messes.  I started Destination Decoration as a creative outlet (I have always loved writing and journaling) and a way to share my experiences.  I can’t say I’m an expert….I’m far from it, but I have found so much joy in crafting and creating and hope you will, too.

Crafter.  Blogger.  Mess-Maker.  Teacher.  Chicago Bears Fan.  Wife.  Voracious Reader.  Child of the King.

All true and not necessarily in priority order.  I’m a Wisconsin-born, Minnesota-raised girl, married to the best man a girl could ask for.

I have taught kindergarten and first grade and have a passion for teaching, tutoring, and working with children in general.  I have a fantastic family.  Look up the dictionary definition of a homebody and you will find See: Beth.

130Lastly (but not at all leastly), I believe God has given me the talents and gifts that I have and strive to thank Him each and every day for these beautiful blessings.

May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us–yes, establish the work of our hands.

Psalm 90:17

Happy crafting!

  • Do you have any thoughts about using sharpies on Pyrex glass to restore worn off markings?

If I use the dyi envelop glue, can I then store the envelops for later? Will the glue still hold up and stick?

  • I found your site and think it’s awesome! You utilize some of my favorite materials. I must say though, I need some advice and I think you’re just the one to give it to me. I’m trying to make a sharpie mug set and I’ve looked through several of your posts. Originally I decorated the mugs with regular sharpies and I baked them at 350 for 30. One wash and they were wiped clean! I was devastated but have recently felt motivated to begin again. Is there anyway to make sure the mugs are dishwasher safe? After all what fun is a cute mug if you can’t trust it through the wash? Thank you and I look forward to your response.
